Mrs. Martha Koch Lynch of St. Monica's Senior Citizen Home, 3920 N. Green Bay Road, will celebrate her 90th birthday Sunday at an open house in her honor from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at St.

Monica's. No formal invitations have been sent and all relatives and friends are invited. Mrs. Lynch was born on March 2, 1 899 in Manitowoc County to William and Helena Koch. She lived in Brillion, Wis.

and graduated from Brillion High School in 1917. She is one of three remaining graduates of the class of 1917. She was married to Edward Lynch on Sept. 29, 1931 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Racine.

A Sept. 9 wedding is planned. The filmvideo desk of the Racine Public Library, located in the McMynn Towers Building, will have a new schedule for public service hours starting Monday. The office will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 1-5 p.m. Wednesday. Saturday hours will continue to be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The desk is not open on Sunday.

The change in hours is based on a user survey conducted in 1988 which found that keeping the fijiavideo office open from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and to 5:30 p.m. was not a cost-efficient use of library personnel time. The Public Information Office, also in the McMynn Building, will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

People wanting to post items on the bulletin board or reserve the meeting room should use the Lake Avenue entrance to the Public Information Office when the filmvideo desk is closed. Herman Lynch Mr. and Mrs. Herman T. Lynch of Bedford, Va. (formerly of Racine) celebrated their wedding anniversary Feb.

23. The former Louise L. (Dewey) Cahoon and Herman T. Lynch were married on Feb. 23, 1929 in Racine where they lived until moving to Orlando, Fla.

in 1977 and Bedford in 1987. Lynch was employed by J.I. Case Co. and Don Hutson Chevrolet Cadillac, retiring in 1975. He is a member of the Order of Elks and resides at the National Elks Home in Bedford.

He and is an avid golfer, shooting his age several times. Mrs. Lynch used to enjoy crossword puzzles and played bridge. The couple were members of the Racine Country Club. They have one son: Thomas (Mariann) of Charlottesville, Va.

There are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. however, the Racine Library is significantly below such cities as Eau Claire, Sheboygan, Appleton, Janesville and Oshkosh," Babu said. Special consultants are Gabriella Birkholz, George Oess and Kim McLynn. Cool said, "This project is a unique teamwork effort among individuals, civic and service organizations and businesses.

"During National Library Week, April 9-16, a variety of activities will be sponsored by these organizations. The Racine Woman's Club, a longtime supporter of library services, is spearheading the activities week." Groundbreaking ceremonies are tentatively scheduled for mid-April. Project completion is expected in summer, 1990. The Racine Public Library board of directors has announced the formation of a fund-raising steering committee to solicit contributions from the community to furnish the expansion and renovation project for the main library. Marianne Cool was named committee chairwoman.

"The City of Racine, through the approval of a construction bond, has responded to what is a pressing need for an adequate main library facility to support the educational growth of our community," said Dr. Saytha Babu, president of the board. "However, the funding from the city, in the effort to balance community needs and taxpayer concerns, is unable to supply resources for such items as tables, chairs, shelving and other furnishings. Consequently, private contributions and pledges need to be sought." Babu said the main library serves approximately 20,000 people per month within the building and answers 750,000 requests for services yearly. "In terms of square footage, Smith- Emmerling Linda J.
