Chicago, Sept 7, 1857. Mettrt. Elitort: As you are doubt leas aware of a difficulty occurring here between John llush, a eitisen of your place, and Morris Cochrane which resulted in the death of said Morris, I would say that it was done in self-defence, without any provocation or intent on the part of Bush. Cnoes Sia The Democratic Stale Convention which convened at Madison oa the 27 th day of August bet, with great unan imity nominated you as candidate lor iiov crnor, and at tne same time, paasea a series of Resolutions declaring the princi ples, and defining the position, of the Democracy of Wisconsin. The Delegates in the Convention, with a desire to promote the best interests of the State and the party, laid aside all per- sonai ana local ieeungs, ana discharged the duty assined to them in a spirit of harmony, conciliation, and union. I hare not been directed to convey this intelligence to you but inasmuch aa th uonvenuon tailed to raise a committee for tnis purpose, I nave assumed to act in the premises. The Convention believed that ia tender- tug to yon this nomination, thev actl in accordance with the wishes and desires of tne wnoie democracy of the State; and nopca mat a nomination, so flattering tO VOU. will ha UMntl and that you will cKeerfulfv adopt, and' ute pnncipies mm down in the resolutions.

Verr respectfully Your obedient servant, II. T. SANDERS, Chairman State Central Com. Milwaukee. Sent.

5. 18.S7 Hon. H. T. SAXIEnS.V Chairman TVm State Central Committee Dear Sir: Your communication formally announcing my nomination for Governor, ia received.

In reply, I would briefly say that ia accepting the nomination, I do-so not as the candidate of any clique, or action, of the democratic party, but only as the candidate of the entire democracy of the State; and if elected, my action will be governed accordingly. It will be my end and aim to discharge the duties of the economical? and impartially; and by so doing, if possible, unite the democratic party of the State in bonds of peace and hanLooy, and restore it to its primitive parity, power and influence. The resolutions passed by the convention are in accordance with my own views, and I have therefore do hesitation in adopting them as the platform upon which every true Democrat ought to stand. Thanking the Convention from which I received the nomination, for this manifestation of their confidence and esteem, I remain, truly and respectfully, Yours, J. B.

CROSS. CorrapoiKtfsc of Um Du'f Kw. laterastlas; from Kaaaas. Lawbexce, Kansas, Sept 3. Quiet prevails.

The farmers and all sorts of people in this Territory excepting, of course, the vagabonds who hant upon Gen. Jim Lane are busy with the crops and trade. But very little was said about politics, on either side, until within the last few days. I presume, though, that ia the closets of politicians the pot has been hept boiling but among the classes I mix with the common people who desire, first and above all, that an end be suddenly put to this "Kansas bleeding," among ns we hare not, as I said, untilquite lately, heard much of politics. And yet we all have our eyes open.

You probably saw accounts of the Gnus-hopper Convention. Well, it was a great Convention. I was there. I never saw anything like it in Wisconsin. As you and the readers of the Daily AVn-i doubtless know; the man Red path, the man who writes letters for the St Louis Democrat and the N.

Y. Tribune, and Lane and Robinson, attempted to prevent this Convention. So did others of the leading republican Free State leaders. Bet the people had determined to meet and wken they found that they could not prevent it, they came ia and tried to control the deliberations. And they did ia some acnee.

The resolutions were not al ttraigkt ewf as they would have been but for the Interference of Lane and Robinson. Now these mea aad many others of the Red path and N. T. Tribune stamp are at work to stir up a dissatisfaction among the Free State men who desire to rote in the cosniac election. By this meaasthey hope to enable the proalavery men to elect their next legislature.

They see that if they go ia earnest the Free State party eaa elect every member, aad thai, of course, would put an end to the controversy.
